Family of God is a
welcoming community of faith which has carried out ministry in the Brooklyn Park Area
since 1970. It is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America. Today's membership is a rich mix of individuals and families, longtime and
newer members, all from varying backgrounds, joined together to grow in faith and serve in
Christ's name. Members of all ages take part in worship, learning, outreach,
service, hospitality, friendship-building events and programs in youth and family
ministry. New member groups form at least twice a year, but whether or not you are
seeking a church home, your visit or call is welcome.
In conjunction with our 40th anniversary
celebration, we are putting together a new church cookbook!
So start digging through those home-made
cookbooks and file folders where you've stashed your family
favorites . The more recipes, the better our cookbook will
be!
In order to have the cookbook published
and available for purchase by December (Christmas gift
opportunity!) all recipes must be submitted by
Friday July 17, 2009.

Recipe form has been created in Microsoft Word.
You can download the form to your computer, complete the
form, and submit completed form to zahalan@yahoo.com.
Form will open as "Read-Only" so you will have to save a
copy to your computer in order to type in it and save your
information (Click on "File" and then "Save As"). Then
email form as an attachment to the above address.
Forms can also be printed out, completed by hand and turned
in to the reception desk at church.

Family of God’s Annual
Garage Sale
July 29 - August 1
Our church’s biggest fundraiser
is fast approaching. The Garage Sale is getting ready to take
over all but the sanctuary. For newer members, we truly do fill
the church with our gently used items. Please see the calendar
insert with the dates for drop offs and work nights. Everyone is
welcome to come & help as often as you can. There are jobs for
all to do. We are especially in need of pricers of electronics,
tools and hardware items. This is truly an all-church sale with
almost everyone helping. That’s what makes it such a success and
a great way to meet and get to know fellow members.
Donation Guidelines
Thank you for your willingness in donating your gently used
items. We are unable to accept the following items:
Appliances, console TV’s, metal & office sized desks,
drapery & curtain rods or miniblinds, typewriters,
mattresses or box springs, household paint
Please donate only clean, wearable clothing. It would be a
big help to have the clothing sorted into men’s, women’s,
boy’s & girl’s.

Youth Softball
9-12
Grade Youth Co-ed Softball plays double-headers Sundays at 6
& 7:15 pm in June & July at Maple Grove High School. The

Adult Co-ed Softball
FOG’s Adult
Co-ed Softball team plays double-headers on Fridays at 6:15 pm,
June 5 – July 17 at Noble Sports Park north of Hwy 610 between
Regent & Noble Avenues. Come cheer on our fellow members and
friends of our congregation! We tailgate after the games in the
parking lot.

of God was chartered in February 1971 which means we will soon
celebrate our 40th Anniversary. We have opted to hold our
celebration September 12, 2010 (to avoid possible icky winter
weather around the actual date). Some early planning has begun and
now we need the help of several people to continue. Areas we will
work on are publicity, history, a cookbook, an event with program
and a special worship service.
