Confirmation Overview

Overview: Confirmation at Family of God is an educational program that will teach the basics of the Christian faith and spiritual growth, so that the students can, with integrity, proclaim their faith in Jesus Christ and live it out in their lives. We are concerned and care about your young person, as an individual. We want to get to know them; we want to walk alongside them as they make their way through this stage of their faith journey.

Our goals:

That they have meaningful, powerful, and dynamic faith experiences; encounters with the Christ who loves them.

That they experience meaningful relationships with volunteers and staff who pour their time, energy, and love into the lives of the young people.

That they learn and develop a basic understanding of the teachings of the Christian faith.

Confirmation is not an ending of the faith-forming process, nor is it a graduation. It is a step, a very important step, but only a step. Our life and faith are full of many of these steps. In confirmation, we begin the process of taking on the bigger faith issues that affect our lives: grace…forgiveness…love…choices and decision making…each person’s role in the world and most importantly, God’s role in each of our lives. In grades 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 our young people are ready to begin these conversations. They are ready to begin integrating their faith into their daily lives and into their decision making. Confirmation prepares young people to live lives of faith. In 10th grade, at the service of Confirmation, our hope is that wherever they are in their faith journey, they will be ready to say

“Yes, this is my life and my faith,

these things I believe, and

I will try to live my life as God calls me.”
