2026 FoG Drama Production:

“The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong” by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer & Henry Shields

Practices: Sundays at 2 pm, Monday & Thursday nights at 6:30 pm.

Performances: April 23 - 26

More about our 2026 production: “The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong,” directed by Lynn Mullin. From Mischief--the creators of the West End smash “Peter Pan Goes Wrong’ and the Tony Award®-winning Broadway hit “The Play That Goes Wrong”--this is the original one-act play which started everything going wrong. This comedy about an amateur theater company trying to perform a murder mystery will both keep you on the edge of your seat and give you a stitch in your side! Rehearsals will generally be held on Sunday afternoons and Monday and Thursday evenings. Performances will be April 23-26.

Social Ministry:  This month we will work with Second Harvest Heartland who are having an emergency drive to provide food:

Everyone deserves to eat. But the presence of federal agents in our community has left some people afraid to leave their homes. As Minnesota families face impossible barriers to accessing groceries safely, we remain committed to ensuring that all of our neighbors have the food they need—no exceptions.

Go to https://www.2harvest.org/ways-to-give in order to give directly.

You can also give to us to pass on, just indicate where you would like the money to go.

Minnesota Foodshare is fast approaching in March. We will be accepting food items for CEAP which we will hold until then. More info to follow.

Minnesota Twins vs Houston Astros on Tuesday, May 19 at 6:40 pm. Tickets are $52.

Family of God Memorial Garden: The cross that was hidden in the pine trees in the front of the church has been repaired, repainted, shortened and moved to become the focal point in our new memory garden. Landscaping, lighting, a Tree of Life bench, and pavers have been added to complete the project. Beginning next spring, we will start taking orders to create engraved pavers in memory of lost loved ones. Engraving specifications and cost will be available at that time. Dedication will take place the third Sunday in May.

General News

A special winter request for new altar care volunteers. The current people who prepare and clean up communion each Sunday are mostly retired and take advantage of the opportunity to escape winter for warmer climates.....very smart, don't ya think? We are needing 2 to 3 people to step up to altar care January - March. If you take just one Sunday a month, that would be much appreciated help. It would mean 20 - 25 minutes before service and 20 minutes after to clean up.

Couples and families have participated previously making light work. Any one of us is more than happy to help you. Please contact Sue Elsass 612-418-9509 or susanelsass@yahoo.com. Thank you for prayerfully considering this most important service.

A Message from the Pastor:  There is a bogus/scam email purportedly from me going around. Please discard it—it has the wrong email address for me. I never ask people generalized requests on email. If it doesn’t sound like me, it is not. Please call if you need to confirm. Thank you—Pastor Paul

Worship Assistants are Desperately Needed: There are many open positions for refreshment servers, altar care, ushers, and greeters. It does not take much time on a Sunday morning when you are here for church anyways. Please consider signing up on the kiosk in the narthex.

Mission Support: Part of our commitment to worldwide ministry is our mission support to Rev. Sack out of Japan. He teaches at a Lutheran seminary in Tokyo. Please consider contributing to this mission in 2025. The cost is $35 per week. Please sign up on the kiosk.  Thank you!!

Monthly Church Newsletter: There will be a basket of printed newsletters on the “Welcome” table at the church. The newsletter will be available at the FOG website. If you would like to have a copy of the newsletter mailed to you, please contact the church office and to  arrange for one to be mailed. Thank you!!

Pastoral Call or Visit:   Have you or a loved one been  hospitalized for an illness? Are you or a loved one feeling under the weather? Would you like a visit or a call from the pastor? We may not be your Facebook friend so please call 763-424-8625 or email admin@fogchurch.org letting us know here at the church office. Also let us know if we should add your name to the prayer chain or the prayer corner in Sunday’s bulletin.

Eternal Life Chapel is the church group that is renting from Family of God.  They meet every Sunday at noon.

Social Ministry

Minnesota Foodshare March Campaign: For forty five years this campaign has brought together organizations, businesses, faith communities, and individuals to help keep the state’s three hundred food shelves stocked. CEAP is our local food shelf. Last month CEAP distributed 228,350 pounds of food to 4,468 neighbors. CEAPS goal for this year’s drive is to raise $100,000 and 100,000 pounds of donated food. These donations will be matched during the campaign. Their motto is EVERY CENT, EVERY CAN AND EVERY CARING NEIGHBOR COUNTS. Too many of our neighbors have to make the impossible choice between putting food on their tables and their safety.

MN hunger facts include:

  • There are over 538,00 Minnesotans facing hunger, 34% of these individuals are under the age of 18.
  • In 2024 a record-breaking 8.9 million Minnesotans visited a food shelf.
  • Overall price of groceries has risen 28% since 2019.

Please consider helping.  A check donation to FOG indicating CEAP in the memo line will be forwarded.

Every Meals Backpack Summary: Family of God volunteers just finished up another successful year distributing back packs each week to students to bring home for the weekend. We partner with Clarity church (they meet at the school). Our total impact was distributing 2,712 food bags to the students. That’s over 10,414 meals. Always looking for new volunteers to help with this project. Think about it for this fall.

EVERY MEAL BACKPACK PROGRAM

SPONSORED BY SOCIAL MINISTRY

Every Meals at Edinbrook Elementary involves putting a bag of food in kids backpacks to take home for use on the weekends. It involves about an hour on Fridays or occasional other days depending on school schedule. We have a schedule as to when you serve and of course, trading if something comes up. If you would like to help out, please contact Kathy Behrens or let Alexa know at the church office.

Every Meal believes child hunger is solvable when they partner as a community to alleviate it. Where do we fit into this picture? Every Meal packs the food and delivers it too the school. Family of God volunteers put the food in student’s lockers on Friday afternoon. The school staff, students, & their families are very appreciative of this program.

2025-26 Every Meal Backpack Volunteer Form

CEAP's Meals on Wheels Program

Another volunteer opportunity to deliver meals through CEAP’s Meals on Wheels Program has come up as they are short on drivers.

The meal’s are picked up at 10:00 and most people are finished by noon. Currently they deliver to BP, BC, Crystal, Robbinsdale, New Hope, Golden Valley & Plymouth. Usually driver’s go out in pairs-one to navigate-the other to deliver meals.

Churches usually volunteer for certain days each month. We want to see the interest and then can organize. Could you help on a Monday, a Thursday or a Friday? Please e-mail the church office or Kathy Behrens at katbehrens47@gmail.com with your availability.
